I am a qualified antenatal teacher with a Diploma of Higher Education in Antenatal Education, a course that took just over three years to complete. I have been teaching antenatal classes for the NCT and privately since 2006. I teach antenatal classes and specialist workshops on multiple births and caesareans.
In 2009, discovering a need for more support for new parents, I trained in Developmental Baby Massage with the International School of Infant Massage and Movement and now run weekly Baby Massage Classes. This type of massage is a combination of touch and soft gymnastics, encouraging flexibility and strength. It is also an opportunity to discuss any aspects of parenting with other new parents.
I am Chair of the West Essex Maternity Services Liaison Committee (MSLC). The MSLC is a group of people (doctors, midwives, managers, commissioners and parents) who meet up regularly to try to improve maternity services in the area and at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
I also regularly contribute to magazine, newspaper and television pieces on pregnancy, birth and antenatal education.
In my spare time, I am a mum of five young children including one set of twins :)
